The LATEST and GREATEST:

THREE TIMES THE CHARM, WE HAVE A HOME! On August 26th, the third ordinance supporting our project was approved.  The City Council authorized the newly formed Downtown Investment Authority (DIA) to manage the Development and Licensing Agreement of the USS Adams Ship Museum. The Honorable Alvin Brown, Mayor of Jacksonville has signed the ordinance and we are sailing along in preparation of our FUTURE HOME of the USS ADAMS MUSEUM at the DOWNTOWN SHIPYARDS PROPERTY.  DIA CEO, Aundra Wallace and his team were a dream to work with and Jacksonville City Council Member Bill Bishop led the charge!

A CALL TO ACTION.  Three of the most prominent community leaders and longtime FRIENDS of the ADAMS appeared in a promotional video to support the project.  In this video, Congressman Ander Crenshaw (U.S. Representative, District 4), Mayor Alvin “Take it to the Next Level!” Brown, and Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford all shared the value and importance of establishing the USS Adams Ship Museum downtown and asked the citizens of Jacksonville to help BRING HOME THE ADAMS!

FULL SPEED AHEAD, DONATION APPLICATION. The Navy called and said, “Send us your final donation application.”  So, we did just that on June 30th.  On August 27th, we clarified and validated all their questions and based on many factors, we are expecting their decision soon.

GREAT NEWS! President of the Jacksonville Jaguars Mark Lamping has stated, in two separate press interviews, that should Mr. Kahn decide to develop the Shipyards into a great venue, the USS Adams Ship Museum would be a welcomed part of that vision.  Read his latest statement in the Jacksonville Daily Record at here.

SUNDAY, NOV 9th, 2014, the race, an official event in the City of Jacksonville’s WEEK OF VALOR, kicks off with the traditional singing of the service songs and a run through downtown Jacksonville. This year we are expecting many military units to show up and carry their unit flags in formation along the route. Join us, come out and watch or volunteer. It’s a great time for all! TIME, TALENT & TREASURE: Over the last five years, we have done some heavy lifting and overcame many challenges to get this far. What an experience it has been. The reality is we are most likely (cross your fingers, say a prayer) about to actually obtain the “Charlie Deuce” and bring her home.  So, let’s continue this voyage FULL STEAM AHEAD by helping us achieve our goal.  Whether it is through volunteering your TIME and TALENT to our cause or helping us with a donation, together, we can BRING HOME THE ADAMS!
