Official City of Jacksonville Week of Valor Event!
November 6, 2016 @ 8am
Are you ready to hit the ground running for the USS ADAMS Museum’s annual Salute to Veterans 5K in Downtown Jacksonville?! Be part of one of the fastest growing and most patriotic 5K runs and an official Jacksonville Week of Valor event while supporting the USS ADAMS Museum, K9s For Warriors and other Veterans Service Organizations.
This year you can expect:
Military, Veteran and patriotic running groups will receive awards for place, size and spirit.
A $250 prize will be given to the 1st Place overall Male and Female finishers.
Thanks to CHASE, there will be FREE food, party favors and lots of patriotic giveaways!
Sing your favorite service songs with over 500 runners as we gear up for the race to begin!
We’ll be ringing the USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2) Bell to start the race!
All registered runners will receive a coveted tech shirt.
Best yet, we’ve added a Patriotic Paws Parade, a fun dog-walking event with a prize for the dog with the best patriotic costume!
Online registration closes the day prior to the beginning of packet pickup. After online registration closes, you can still register in any 1st Place Sports store or on Race day.

Patriotic Paw Parade
This is a new 1 Mile event! Bring your dressed up pooches and critters! Some of the cutest Patriotic Paws participants will be recognized and have pictures posted on social media, maybe regular media too!
Packets will be available for pick up at your selected 1st Place Sports store location on Friday, November 4th and Saturday, November 5th from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. All packets will be moved to the race site for race day pick up beginning an hour before the race.

Join the USS ADAMS Museum crew at Oktoberfest Jacksonville at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery on September 30 and October 1 while we raise awareness and funds for the project during a celebration of German cuisine, culture and great beer with a two day event in Jacksonville, Florida from 4pm – 10pm. Volunteer with our crew and enjoy a variety of entertainment including live music and traditional dancing, food vendors providing a smorgasbord of authentic German cuisine, traditional festival fare and thirst-quenching beverages. Games and activities will also be available Friday and Saturday.

The USS ADAMS Museum has been chosen as 1 of 4 non-profit partner organizations for the St. Augustine Outdoorsman Adventure RV & Boat Show event on September 16 – 18 open 11am to 7pm daily. We will receive a portion of the gate admission and more! Our CEO, Joe Snowberger will be interviewed on radio during the event on Saturday to talk about our organization. The show is expecting to have 3,000 to 5,000 visitors! In addition to receiving a portion of the gate admission, we will also be manning a booth to raise awareness and funds for the project. Exciting stuff!

We’ve just updated our volunteer events and we have several fun opportunities coming up and we need your help! Volunteer to sell boats, market the USS ADAMS Museum, or man the Visitor’s Center for one of our events. Don’t miss the opportunity to help us and enjoy free entry into fun events!
Here’s what we’re looking at so far:
Sunday, April 3rd – Adventure Landing 12:30pm – 6:30pm
We need a few volunteers, especially for the later shift from 3:30 – 6:30pm.
Wednesday, April 6th – Spark Walk Downtown (2 Opportunities) Noon – 8pm @ Chamblin’s Uptown, 215 N. Laura St – Downtown
@ ONE SPARK is one night this year and has combined with ART WALK to become SPARK WALK!
We are setting up a table outside of Chamblin’s, right in the middle of the party!
We need volunteers to sell boats as well as walk around Downtown in the cardboard ship.
@ THE USS ADAMS Musuem Store & Visitor Center
– We will also staff the Visitor’s Center at the JAX LANDING from 4pm – 8pm
– Volunteers to take shifts in the cardboard boat and walk around downtown selling tickets.
– We will need a volunteer to pack up the materials in their vehicle.
Saturday, April 9th – Riverside Arts Market – RAM 9:30am – 4:30pm
We need a few volunteers to enjoy the RAM and sell BOAT RACE tickets.
Sunday, April 10th – Publix @ San Pablo and Beach Blvd. 11am – ? (the store will allow us to stay until 7pm)

Tuesday, April 12th – USS ADAMS Museum Race to the Boat Show! 4pm – 6pm @ Metropolitan Park! THIS is an ALL CALL! We need LOTS of volunteers!

We will need LOTS of volunteers. That means we need all hands on deck. We will break the hours up into shifts depending on how many volunteers we have.

Our online store needs just a little more time to be up and running. We anticipate its launch by mid April. The online store will have a fresh new look and navigation to give you a better shopping experience. Be on the lookout for monthly specials on merchandise correlating to significant periods in our military history and other events.

We have over 700 individual military ball caps, various service shirts, challenge coins, jewelry, and more!
Our store and Visitor’s Center in The Jacksonville Landing now has Adams Class model kits for sale! Each kit can be configured to represent any one of the 23 US Adams Class ships and the Australians. The kits are difficult to find and are genuinely limited so don’t miss the boat (pun intended), get your model kit, and many other items today!
